With his music, Lorenzo invites the listener to fully experience the present moment, and in doing so rewards those who give their full attention. He aims to elicit a collective self-expression from himself and his bandmates, grounded in trust and openmindedness, built improvisationally over a solid rhythmic foundation. He maintains a strong belief that music should be explored with the intention of evocation, and that a need for higher understanding should not alienate any listener.
As an in-demand bassist and improviser, Lorenzo has achieved significant accomplishments including touring the United States with Sean Jones and Jazzmeia Horn as part of Carnegie Hall's NYO Jazz program, and being named a fellow of the Steans Institute of Ravinia under the direction of Steve Wilson, Billy Childs, and John Clayton. He regularly performs at premier New York City venues such as The Jazz Gallery, Close Up, Room 623, Nublu, and The Django, to name a few. While studying at the Manhattan School of Music, he debuted his original compositions on Columbia University's WKCR FM radio station and in person at Nublu Classic in Manhattan's Lower East Side. He was also a part of Emmanuel Michael's fellowship residency at the Jazz Gallery, entitled "Olfactory Memories I Wished to Forget," and he showcased his talents at the Tri-C Jazz Fest in Cleveland as part of Drew Hoschar's group, alongside luminaries such as Cecile McLorin Salvant and Jason Moran. He looks forward to releasing his debut EP in the winter of 2026, featuring his own compositions played by himself, pianist Esteban Castro, and drummer Jonas Esser.
“To fully experience the present moment, and reward those who give it their full attention.”
